Alex Gale
Global Head of Editorial Copy, Apple Music
As global head of editorial copy at Apple Music, Alex leads an international team of writers and content creators at Apple Music who interview artists, review records, and help drive Apple Music’s editorial campaigns. Alex joined Apple Music in 2018 after a career as a culture journalist and musician. He started his journalism career writing and editing at The Source and Vibe and later served as executive editor at Complex Media and music editor at Billboard, where he helped launch the Hip-Hop/R&B Power Players list. His writing has also been featured in GQ, Vogue, XXL, Glamour, The Village Voice and Popular Mechanics, and he has appeared as a frequent guest talking about music on CNN, MSNBC, ABC’s Good Morning America, and more. As a musician, Alex has played bass guitar with Mark Ronson, Kanye West, Lily Allen, Sharon Jones and John Legend; produced and written for Jean Grae, Homeboy Sandman, Aesop Rock, Mr. Lif and others; and helped score films including Bronx Obama (2014) and Paper Soldiers (2002). Currently based in Los Angeles, Alex was raised in New York City and is a proud product of its public schools, where he first picked up an instrument and first performed onstage.
