Caroline Abs
Head of Marketing, Sony Latin-Iberia Region
Devoted to the music industry for nearly 20 years now, Caroline Abs began in 2000 as Marketing Coordinator for Columbia Records in NYC and then moved to London in 2003 as Project Manager of International for AOL Music. In 2005, Caroline became Director of International Content Sales & Marketing for SME’s Global Digital Business Group, spearheading some of the first global digital sales campaigns for such artists as Beyoncé, Chris Brown, and Kelly Clarkson; and in 2007 became Senior Director, US International Marketing & Promotion, where she worked with the global affiliates and artist management on a wide range of developing and superstar talent such as P!nk, Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen, Sia, Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Cage The Elephant, Buddy Guy, and many others. In 2015, Caroline moved down to Miami, first as a VP of International Repertoire for the Latin-Iberia region, overseeing the marketing of the international artists within the region, and then in 2016, her role was expanded to VP of Marketing, heading up all their marketing services for Sony Music artists in US Hispanic, Latin American and Iberian markets, where she is very involved in major campaigns such as Shakira, Ozuna, Becky G, Camilo, Residente and more. Caroline has a Bachelors of Arts in French Area Studies from Cornell University and graduated, Magna Cum Laude. She also speaks multiple languages including English, French, Spanish and Portuguese and participates frequently in progressive activism on issues such as voting rights, human rights and animal rights.
The Music Industry Advisory Board aims to ensure that students have access to a diverse set of successful music professionals, so they are aware that there is more to the industry beyond being on the main stage. Our mission is to close the gap for the next generation of music industry professionals to create a more inclusive and diverse future.
